Terms of Service
Last updated June 14, 2026.
These terms govern your use of NameChangePacket. By using the site or purchasing a packet, you agree to them. Please read them with our Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
What the service is
NameChangePacket is an independent service that helps you organize and sequence a name change after marriage, after divorce, or for another reason. It is NOT legal advice, NOT a government service, and is NOT affiliated with or endorsed by the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of State, any state DMV, or any other government agency. Government forms are free; you pay us for personalization, correct sequencing, source-backed organization, and support — never for the forms themselves. Every government-process step links to its official source; always confirm against the official page before you act. For a court-ordered legal name change, consult your county court or an attorney.
Your license
When you purchase a packet, we grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use it for your own name change. The packet and the site content are ours and may not be resold or redistributed.
Acceptable use
Use the service lawfully and for your own name change. Don't scrape, copy, resell, or misrepresent it, and don't use it to provide legal advice to others.
Payment and refunds
Packets are a one-time purchase — Core Packet $39, Packet Plus $59 — with no subscription. 3-day money-back guarantee — if your packet isn’t correct for your situation, email us within 3 days for a full refund. See the full Refund Policy.
No warranties
The service and every packet are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and accuracy. Government rules and fees change, and agencies decide their own requirements; our steps, fees, and timelines are estimates organized from official sources, not guarantees of any outcome. You are responsible for confirming the current requirements on the official .gov page we link before you act.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NameChangePacket’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
Dispute resolution & governing law
If something's wrong, email support@namechangepacket.com first — we want to resolve it directly. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in California. To the extent permitted by law, any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis, not as part of a class action.
Changes
We may update these terms; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
