Honeymoon name-change risk checker

There are two ways a name change can wreck a honeymoon: you mail in your passport for the name change and are without it while it's processing, or your ticket name doesn't match the ID you show at the airport. Both are easy to avoid once you know your trip date. Enter it below and we'll flag the timing risks and put your changes in a safe order around it, so you don't get stuck at the airport.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my passport name before my honeymoon?
Only if you have enough lead time. A passport name change means mailing in your current passport, so you'll be without it while it processes. Don't start a passport name change right before international travel — the tool above checks this against your trip date and tells you.
Does the name on my ticket have to match my ID?
Yes. For air travel the name on your ticket should match the government ID you present at the airport. While your name is in transition, book in the name on the ID you'll actually travel with, and carry your certified marriage certificate.
Do I need a REAL ID to fly on my honeymoon?
To board a domestic flight you need a REAL ID-compliant license or an acceptable alternative like a U.S. passport. REAL ID enforcement has been live since May 7, 2025.
